LFW AW15: OOTD and Emilio de la Morena

For many years I have been glued to Vogue's website in my spare time during the various fashion weeks, reading the show reports and scrolling through the different looks from the catwalks but yesterday I visited London to experience London Fashion Week 'in real life' for the first time.

When I arrived at Somerset House late morning the sun was shining and it wasn't too busy making it the perfect time to take some photos. As you can imagine, my friends and I wanted to photograph everything and the beautiful location and blue skies made for the perfect backdrop. We were there to take street style photos for uni but we began by taking photos of each other's outfits which made me feel incredibly vain but at least you don't look crazy because at fashion week, everybody is taking photos.

Victoria Beckham AW15

Victoria Beckham is one of my many favourite designers so naturally I was excited to see her Autumn/Winter 2015 show at New York Fashion Week and once again she did not disappoint.

What I loved the most about this collection was the practicality of it. Often you see designs on the catwalk that in reality probably wouldn't be able to be worn on a daily basis unless you're very daring, yet Victoria Beckham knows exactly how to produce garments that women will want to wear. It consisted of cosy-looking designs which are perfect for autumn/winter with mainly black, white, grey, navy, and neutral colours which are all very wearable and versatile. Despite this, the shapes of many garments were still extremely flattering and looked sophisticated.

Here are some of my favourite looks which were very hard to narrow down:

Visiting Pure London

On Tuesday I had the opportunity to attend Pure London at Olympia, a business to business tradeshow mainly for fashion buyers looking to find new brands to stock in their stores/boutiques. As a Fashion Marketing student it was interesting to go and observe the event to gain more insight into what happens there. Prepare yourself for a lot of photos...

BAFTA Awards 2015 Best Dressed

What I love most about the awards season is being able to scroll through all of the photos of the dresses on Vogue and see what all the celebrities wore to the event they attended. Sunday night I saw that the British Academy Film Awards were on TV and my Twitter feed was filled with photos of it so I thought that I would share some of my favourite dresses with you instead of silently judging them by myself.

A Spontaneous Hair Change

I'm the type of person that doesn't do a lot with my hair. And by that I mean most days I don't even brush it but rather I run my fingers through it to get rid of knots. After washing it I normally straighten it and occasionally curl it but apart from that styling my hair only extends to clipping half of it up or putting it in a bun, most often though I just wear it down. It's not that I don't care about my hair because I really do think that a bad hair day can completely turn your mood upside down, I just like it to be easy in the mornings.

All of this means that sometimes I just get bored of it always being the same and feel like a change. I have a habit of wanting to have my hair cut differently spontaneously, the thought really does come from nowhere whereas it seems a lot people plan what they want to get done to their hair weeks before they even book an appointment. It was almost two years ago when I did this the last time, getting my long hair cut off to just below my shoulders. I can't remember exactly how long it was but it was a relatively big change which I decided on doing when I was walking home from college. I know, so random.

This time round I decided for a more subtle change, when I was having a trim the thought came to me that I could try out having a fringe. I'd love to say I spent time on Pinterest searching for the perfect fringes but I really didn't. I said that I might get a fringe cut in a couple of months yet 5 minutes later I just thought "actually, I'll do it now".

This is the only photo I currently have of my new hair, so apologies for that, but I'm not the biggest selfie taker. I was a bit scared because the last time I had a fringe was at primary school and I had visions of my current self with a full, thick fringe like that which would've been my nightmare. I didn't want a statement fringe or anything like that but just a subtle change and I'm pleased with it so far. As you can see in the image above I prefer not wearing it as a full fringe all the way across my forehead because naturally it wants to sit with a gap between each side which is fine by me as it flatters my face more and I like the versatility of being able to sweep it slightly to the side because it's not too short.

I really do encourage people to go ahead and make even the slightest changes to their hair because at the end of the day hair grows back so you might as well just try something new!

Back to Blogging

Hello! To start off my new blog I thought I would do a short introduction before I start posting properly.

Originally I had a blog called Style Discovered which I started with a friend before I ran it alone last year. However, I became too busy revising for my A-Levels and didn't get any time to do blog posts, then when summer came around I just didn't fall back into the swing of blogging.

In October, I started university studying BA Fashion Marketing/Management and for one of the modules my assignment was in the form of a blog. Doing weekly posts gave me the urge to start a personal blog again because whilst I was doing my academic tasks I kept getting ideas of blog posts that I could write if I still had my own blog.

I wanted to completely start again with a new name and layout. The name Style Discovered seemed quite restricting, although only a name, and made me feel like I should only be posting about fashion and style. This time I chose to name my blog after myself - it's my first name and my middle name - as I use this across various social media sites and didn't think there was anything else more suitable.

I will be blogging about fashion as it's what I love but also beauty, lifestyle, and whatever else I feel like. I'm not going to put pressure on myself this time round, instead I'm going to blog when I feel like I want to and about anything that I want to discuss.

I'm excited to start blogging again so hopefully it will be enjoyable for both me and people reading!
